The Anointing Oil
Within the last chapter, we experienced Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead. This miraculous act was so that God would be glorified, and that everyone would know that Jesus was the Messiah. Also, it was to give those disciples who where still on the fence about who Jesus was, to make their decisions. Lazarus being raised had many effects one of them being that the religious leaders, in one accord, decided that Jesus had to die and were now actively seeking to have this done. We are now just six days before Jesus’ final Passover, Jesus stops off at a friend's house for dinner and an event that is well spoken about becomes our topic of study as we will get to see all the actors, possibly a new view of the anointing of Jesus’ feet, and the calculated decision of one of Jesus’ twelve disciples exposed and his greed revealed. This will be a continuation of looking deeper into the events that lead up to and continue through the betrayal and crucifixion of Jesus.
