The Reason

We are now going to see the stage set for a demonstration of what Jesus has done for us. The comparison of the sacrifices made through animals verse the final sacrifice made through the perfect Son of God, securing the redemption of sinners for all eternity.

So far we have studied the old covenant, we have seen the importance of the sacrifices, for the shedding of blood brought forgiveness of sins but not cleansing the conscience. We also have seen that unlike the shedding of blood from animals who were defiled, the shed blood of Christ who being perfect, was only needed once.

We have seen that this very act had more purpose than that of just forgiveness of sins, but also allowed a cleansing of our conscience so we can serve God, and gave Christ the access as high priest to the Holy of Holies, not just one time as with the high priest of the Levitical priesthood, but for all time.

We have also seen that Christ death also was needed for the new covenant to be finalized, so that there could be forgiveness, not only for first century Christians but for all believers, both past, present, and future.

We have seen Christ as our mediator to God, our Redeemer, the very source of our forgiveness. Now we are going to close this chapter of study seeing that the tabernacle was just a copy of what was in heaven, get a better understanding of Christ sacrifice and speak to the second coming of Christ.
